Students answer the following questions:
1. Which festivals is Ba inviting Liz to?

Students find out the meanings of vocabulary, using a dictionary:
competition (n) = contest (n) fetch (v) festival (n) starting position (n) teammate (n)
-> compete (v) jell (v) urge (v) rub (v)
-> competitive (adj) participate in (v) = take part in (v) = join (v)
-> competitively (adv) -> participation (n)
-> competitor (n) -> participant (n)
separate (v) husk (n) judge (n/v) award (v/n) council (n)
-> separation (n) grand prize (n)

Students read the dialogue and then do the exercise 2/ page 122.

Part 2. Read. (Pages 124-126)
Students will read some specials about the Christmas.
1. Are you religious? Do you like Christmas?
2. How many Christmas specials are you going to read? What are they?
3. Have you ever participated in a Christmas party yet? What will you do to prepare for Christmas holiday?
Students find out the meanings of vocabulary, using a dictionary:
Christmas Eve (n) decorate (v) – decoration / decorator(n)- decorative (adj)
custom (n) spread (v) throughout (adv)
carol (n) perform (v)=show (v/ n) – performance (n) unsuitable (a) >< suitable (a)

S + get    + s.o (người) + to V + s.th (vật)...

Ex: - He had someone design a card.
      - He got someone to design a card.
* Câu bị động:
S  + have/ get + s.th (vật) + PP(V-ed/V3) + (by + s.o (người))

Ex: - He had a card designed (by someone).
      - He got a card designed (by someone).
Students scan the text and do the exercises 1 and 2/ page 126.

  *    Công thức chung:
S + be + PP (V-ed/V3) + by + O

* Chuyển đổi câu chủ động sang bị động trong thì tiếng Anh (Tense)
Các bước chuyển đổi từ câu chủ động sang câu bị đông

• My father waters the flower garden every morning.
       S Vs O  -> simple present tense
➤Theflower garden is watered by my father every morning.
* Công thức chuyển câu chủ động sang câu bị động các bạn xem lại ở bảng này nhé ( không cần chép lại nếu bài trước đã chép rồi)
UNIT 13: FESTIVALS 69b70b10

Lưu ý:
1/ Nếu trong câu bị động có yếu tố "by + O" là “by people, something, someone, anyone, them...” thì không phải viết lại.
Ex: They mended this street.
→ This street was mended.
2/ Tất cả các yếu tố còn  lại trong câu chủ động thì viết lại trước “by + O” trong câu bị động, ngoại trừ yếu tố chỉ thời gian thì viết sau “by + O”
Ex: Mr. Xuan built this house in 2000.
S  V2  O -> simple past tense
→ This house was built by Mr Xuan in 2000.
3/  Nếu có "No" đầu câu thì làm như bình thường, xong đổi sang phủ định
Ex: Nobody has visited Lan .
 S V  O -> present perfect tense
→ Lan has not  been visited recently.
Students do exercises 1 and 2/ pages 128-129.

2. Compound adjectives (Tính từ kép): rice-cooking, fire-making, etc.
N-V-ing = compound adjective
Ex.  cook rice (V) ->rice-cooking (comp. adj)
       fetch water (V) -> water-fetching (comp. adj)
     Students do exercise 3/ page 130
3. Reported speech: Câu  tường thuật (gián tiếp)
Loại 1: câu khẳng định/ phủ định
Statements (+/ -): S + said + (that) + S + V (lùi 1 thì)..
                              = S + told + O + (that) + S + V (lùi 1 thì)..

Cách lùi thì của động từ:
UNIT 13: FESTIVALS 91149110
