GRAMMAR:
I. The past simple: thì quá khứ đơn
Thì quá khứ đơn được dùng để diễn tả hành động hoặc sự việc đã xảy ra và kết thúc tại một thời điểm xác định trong quá khứ.
Cách dùng này thường đi kèm với các trạng từ hoặc cụm trạng từ chỉ thời gian quá khứ như: yesterday (hôm qua), last night (tối qua), last week/month/year/winter…. 3 weeks ago ( cách đây 3 tuần).
1. The past simple tense of tobe: WAS/ WERE
- Positive form:   (+) S  (I/ he/ she/ It/N) + was ...
                        S (You/ we/ they/ Ns) + were...
- Negatve form: (-) S + was/were +not (wasn’t/ weren’t)...
Note:  was not = wasn’t; were not = weren’t
- Question form: (?) Was/Were + S ….?
                                      Trả lời:  Yes, S + was/were.
                                                  No, S + wasn’t/weren’t.
2. The past simple of ordinary verbs (thì quá khứ đơn của động từ thường)
- Positive form: (+) S + V-ed/V2 ... (V2: verb past tense)
- Negative form:          (-)     S + did not (didn’t) + V1...
- Question form: (?)     Did + S +V1….?
                                Trả lời:   Yes, S + did.
                              No, S + didn’t
                                         Rút gọn: did not = didn’t
V-ed: regular verb (động từ hợp quy tắc):  want-wanted;  learn-learned...
V2: irregular verb (động từ hợp quy tắc):  go-went; speak-spoke...
Ex: We played games last Sunday.
We didn’t play games last Sunday.
 Did you join in the sports competition last week? – No, I didn’t.
3. Cách thêm-ed
Hình thức quá khứ của động từ hợp quy tắc được thành lập bằng cách thêm –ed và dạng nguyên mẫu của động từ.
Ex: visit  => visited
- Động từ tận cùng bằng –e: thêm –d.  ex: live  => lived
- Động từ một âm tiết tận cùng là một nguyên âm + phụ âm (trừ w,y): gấp đôi phụ âm và thêm –ed
Ex: stop => stopped
- Động từ  tận cùng bằng phụ âm + y: đổi y thành i rồi thêm –ed
Ex: study =>  studied
- Động từ tận cùng bằng phụ âm + y: thêm –ed
Ex: enjoy +> ẹnoyed
II. Imperatives (thể mệnh lệnh)
Thể mệnh lệnh là thể ra lệnh, sai khiến hoặc yêu cầu người khác làm hoặc không làm điều gì.
1. Affirmative imperatives (mệnh lệnh khẳng định)
V1 + O…..  (hãy…)
Ex: Open your  book.
Một số động từ không cần tân ngữ theo sau: Come in; Be quiet!
2. Negative imperatives (mệnh lệnh phủ định)
Do not/ don’t + V1 + (O)..  (đừng..)
Ex: Don’t close your book.( Đừng đóng sách lại)
Lưu ý: khi muốn yêu cầu hoặc đề nghị một cách lịch sự, ta thường thêm please vào trước hoăc sau câu mệnh lệnh.
Ex:    Please sit down/ Sit down, please.

Writing:
Students write about a sport/game you like. Use your own ideas and the following as cues.
- Name of the sport/game.
- Is it a team or an individual sport/game?
- How long does it last?
- How many players are there?
- Does it need any equipment?
Here is a model outline:
First of all, you have to list your main ideas, for example:
Football:

My favorite sport is badminton.I like playing it with my friend. I think it is a good sport. Every sport will make people feel hot and uncomfortable,but when you play badminton, you will be comfortable because in the badminton court, there are many air conditioners.
Although this makes me tired. I still always practice because I will be healthier and fitter than before. Anyway, I think badminton is the best sport.
